In the crypto market at large, one that is attracting the attention of many people is the NFT, or non-fungible token. NFT itself is a form of digital token that functions as a certificate of ownership for unique assets, which can take the form of digital art, virtual collectibles, in-game items, and others.

NFTs use blockchain technology to record and verify ownership of digital assets, and most importantly, each NFT asset has unique characteristics that differentiate it from other assets.

Please note that NFTs and crypto assets such as Bitcoin or Ethereum have differences. The reason is that NFT is a unique asset that represents ownership of certain items or works that cannot be exchanged with each other for the same value.

Meanwhile, Bitcoin or Ethereum are crypto assets that are fungible, meaning that one unit of Bitcoin or Ethereum can be exchanged for other units of the same value.

Furthermore, until now, it has been known that there are several NFT projects from Indonesia that are popular even abroad. Anything? So, to better understand what an NFT project is and to see a list of the most popular Indonesian NFT projects, see the complete review below.

What is NFT Project?

Apa Itu NFT Project?

NFT projects are digital representations involving music, videos, games, images, and even paintings in JPEG, PNG, or MP4 formats that are created to create prestigious and valuable assets.

To collect one of Indonesia’s NFT projects, you can get it through NFT platforms such as OpenSea, Foundation, Hit en Nunc, Reliable, and many more.

However, some Indonesian NFT projects can only be accessed and traded through their official websites or platforms. You should also note that in the NFT world, there are two general terms that need to be understood: NFT project and NFT drop.

In contrast to the NFT project, the NFT drop refers to the distribution method of an NFT project that is available for purchase by investors. NFT drops usually include information about the date, launch time, and minting price of that NFT project.

  1. Karafuru

One of the NFT projects that is currently viral and getting a lot of attention from the Indonesian people is Karafuru. Karafuru NFT is an NFT project originating from Indonesia and created by an artist named Willy, who collaborated with the Museum of Toys and the Urban Sneaker Society.

2.Mindblown Universe

Starting from a comic strip that was first uploaded on his personal blog, Tahilalat, or Mind Blowon, has grown into a very popular web comic strip in Indonesia. This is evident from the number of Instagram followers, which reaches more than 4.8 million accounts.

Tahilalat has also expanded its reach internationally by collaborating with various leading brands, renowned artists, and even international musicians.

Most recently, Tahilalat released a project called Mindblowon Universe, which contains an NFT collection of 6,969 items. This collection combines various references from 90s cartoons and pop culture with a touch of Tahilalat’s unique style. The global launch of the Mindblowon Universe NFT project took place on April 19, 2022.

However, of the total NFT collection, only 1,300 NFTs are available for public ownership through the minting process. Meanwhile, the remaining 5,364 NFT collections were included in the whitelist, and another 305 collections were specifically for the Tahilalat team.

The sale of the Mindblowon Universe NFT project uses the Fair Dutch Auction method and takes place from May 6 to 7, 2022. Previously, there was a private sales period that took place from May 7 to 8, 2022.

3.Ghozali Everyday

Ghozali Everyday, an NFT project from Indonesia, stole attention in early 2022 with its uniqueness. Different from many other NFT projects, Ghozali Everyday is a collection of Ghozali’s selfie photos taken from 2017 to 2021.

Ghozali, or Sultan Gustaf Ali Ghozali, is a student from Dian Nuswantoro University (UDINUS). Even though it may sound unusual, this young man from Semarang has succeeded in selling his collection of selfie photos on the NFT market for a value of up to billions of rupiah.

Initially, Ghozali set a very low price for each of his selfie photos so they could be sold on OpenSea. However, what was unexpected was that as his popularity increased in the Indonesian and overseas NFT community, the price per Ghozali NFT selfie photo increased several times.

Based on trading volume data from his OpenSea account, Ghozali managed to collect around 277 Ethereum (ETH), or the equivalent of IDR 13.3 billion. However, Ghozali sincerely admitted that the actual profit he got was not that big.

On January 17, 2022, through a podcast episode hosted by well-known Indonesian figure Deddy Corbuzier, Ghozali explained that the actual income received from selling NFTs on OpenSea was around IDR 1.7 billion.

4.Si Juki: Lost in Jukiverse

Next, we have an NFT collection that is certainly familiar to Indonesians: Si Juki. This collection, entitled “Si Juki: Lost in Jukiverse”, was launched on May 28. Interestingly, all 3,456 NFT assets in this collection sold out in less than 30 minutes.

If you visit the official page of this collection on OpenSea, you will find that the trading volume of “Lost in Jukiverse” has reached 330 ETH. This is equivalent to around IDR 7.73 billion based on the Ethereum exchange rate at the time of writing this article.

Please note that “Lost in Jukiverse” is actually the second NFT project from Faza Meonk, the original creator of Si Juki. Previously, he had launched a collection called “Jukiverse” in January, which contained 110 characters all drawn by hand. Despite the limited number of assets, the collection managed to record a transaction volume of 124 ETH.

5. Baliverse

Bali United Football Club, based in Bali, is expanding its presence to keep up with today’s digital developments. The NFT project known as “Bali in Metaverse” or “Baliverse” is an initiative of this well-known soccer club from Indonesia.

PT Bali Bintang Sejahtera, the company that owns Bali United, aims to support local artists in Indonesia, especially those from Bali. Currently, you can find various NFT collections owned by Baliverse that are available for trading on the OpenSea platform.

6. Honorable Mention: BWOPLE

Another well-known NFT project from Indonesia that is important to discuss is BWOPLE by an artist known as Gengoya. Different from the others, this project is unique because it is not a generative project.

That is, the creators draw each asset by hand without the aid of computer algorithms. Besides that, BWOPLE also utilizes the Tezos blockchain instead of opting for Ethereum.

The reason why BWOPLE got an “honorable mention” is because its first NFT asset was minted in December 2021.

Even so, Gengoya continues to add to the BWOPLE collection with new assets over time, so that some are actually counted as output in 2022. So far, there are a total of 393 assets in the NFT BWOPLE collection.

As for the Objkt.com marketplace, BWOPLE sits in 19th position for the NFT collection with the largest trading volume. Until this article was written, the volume had reached 91,800 XTZ, approximately equivalent to 2.02 billion rupiah.

7. Journey and Her Loyal Fellowship

This NFT work “Journey and Her Loyal Fellowship,” is the work of a 2D visual artist named Diela Maharanie. In September 2021, this NFT piece was successfully sold for 3.6 ETH.

Since then, this NFT has changed owners several times. In September 2021, this NFT will be shifted from users with BTC000ETH accounts to users with Haetobedefined accounts.

This NFT work features an image of a woman riding a fantasy horse-like creature. Diela is a fairly well-known visual artist in Indonesia, known for the distinctive features of the figures that appear in her works as well as her courage and dominance of the use of color in her works.

In his drawings, Diela often uses bold, curved lines, giving them a unique touch and distinguishing it from other works of art.

Diela markets her work in the form of NFT on the OpenSea platform using an account based on her name, namely Diela Maharanie.

Currently, there are 39 NFT items marketed by Diela on OpenSea. Through this account, it can be seen that the average NFT price made by Diela is around 0.2 ETH.

8. Gojimoon

Gojimoon is an integral part of the Karafuru project, which is basically a collaboration between several NFT artists that support it.

Karafuru is also actively marketing his work on the OpenSea platform. You can find their NFT collection by visiting the official Karafuru website, namely Karafuru.io. The Karafuru NFT collection on OpenSea is extensive, with more than 5,600 NFT works available.

Interestingly, most of these NFT works have been sold. In addition to this impressive amount, Karafuru also recorded high trading volumes, reaching over 37,600 ETH.

Therefore, it is not surprising that Karafuru has achieved great popularity on OpenSea, with the average price of their NFTs reaching 2.14 ETH. One of Gojimoon’s special NFTs, namely NFT #1354, was successfully sold for a price of 42 ETH in January 2022.

9. Syahrini Metaverse Tour

This NFT collection is the work of the famous Indonesian singer, namely Syahrini. The collection was officially launched by Syahrini in December 2021 on an NFT market.

The NFT owned by Syahrini has the shape of her avatar, with a distinctive purple color dominating it. This collection sold well, with a total of 17,800 pieces, while the price per NFT was around 0.00819 ETH.

This is because NFTs have the potential to change the way we interact with art, culture, and digital assets and can open up significant new economic opportunities.

With the rapid growth of the global NFT market, it is important for Indonesians not only to follow this trend but also to understand the potential contained therein.

So, it is important for anyone to learn more about NFTs, follow the development of this trend, and explore the opportunities that may exist within it.
