About Celestia (TIA)

Celestia is a modular data availability (DA) network that securely scales with the number of users, making it easy for anyone to launch their blockchain.

Rollups and L2s use Celestia as a network for publishing and making transaction data available for anyone to download. For them, Celestia provides high-throughput DA that can be verified easily with a light node. And by making the blockchain stack modular, anyone can launch their blockchain without needing a validator set.

Celestia is making some important contributions to the Web3 space.

First, it provides a secure and scalable foundation for a new generation of modular rollups. This will help to make Web3 more accessible and affordable for everyone. Second, Celestia is helping to decentralize the Web3 ecosystem. By making it easier to build and deploy rollups, Celestia is helping to reduce the reliance on centralized Layer-2 solutions. Finally, Celestia is helping to advance the state of the art in blockchain technology. By separating the data from the execution layer, Celestia makes building more scalable and secure blockchains possible.

Challenges, Opportunities, and Utilities

Celestia solves the scalability trilemma by separating the data layer from the execution layer. This means that Celestia can focus on providing a secure and decentralized data layer, while rollups can focus on executing transactions.

There are several advantages offered by Celestia, including:

  • Scalability: Celestia can scale to support many rollups, which means it can handle many transactions.
  • Security: Celestia is designed to be secure, even if some rollups built on top of it fail.
  • Cost-effectiveness: Celestia is designed to be cost-effective, which means that transaction fees on rollups built on top of it should be low.

Meanwhile, Celestia also has several uses as follows::

  • Paying for transaction fees: TIA is used to pay transaction fees on the Celestia blockchain.
  • Staking: TIA can be staked to secure the Celestia network and earn rewards.
  • Governance: TIA holders will have the ability to vote on governance proposals for the Celestia blockchain.
