CGMiner is an open-source crypto asset mining software, designed for multiple platforms – Windows, OS X and Linux. Its distinctive feature is the fact that it is based on the original CPU Miner code. CGMiner has a very intuitive interface, as well as many useful functions – eg. monitoring or overclocking.
CGMiner is also known as crypto mining software and works with AMD graphics cards. The program offers many interesting functions, including tools designed to overclock the graphics processor or control cooling speed. For safety reasons, please use with caution.
CGMiner also provides debugging information to users, allowing you to automatically disable problematic operations. This software allows you to work through Proxies and use strategies like Load Balance or Roud Robin. There are also many other options available to the user, including specifying vector widths, configuring separate message output, and creating custom delays for the router.
The basic configuration of CGMiner is based on assigning the appropriate commands to the cgminer.exe file, including the mine number and user login and password. Parameters like intensity, gpu-threads, vector, work size and diablo kernel have the biggest impact on software performance. CGMiner allows you to overclock your graphics card, i.e. change GPU and memory clock settings. For this purpose, the gpu-engine and gpu-memclock commands were edited. The dynamic change of GPU clock speed depending on temperature, which cannot be exceeded. The GPU frequency range is set with the temp-target command.
The dynamic change of fan speed is also dependent on GPU temperature, the range of which is set as a percentage with the auto fan command and the gpu fan. If the specified temperature is exceeded, the fan rotates to its maximum speed and the GPU clock speed is reduced. For this reason, it is recommended to use additional security in the configuration, using the temp-overheat command. The GPU shuts down when the temperature specified in the temp-cutoff command is exceeded. Separate individual settings can be used for each GPU. In this case, the sequential values ??for GPU0, GPU1 or GPU2 must be separated by commas.
